Advice for parents? Son going to Lackland in June
    Thanks

  2. admin /

The best advice I can give you as a parent is to be supportive. Get your son at least the Guidebook and Workbook and read it with him, do the quizzes in the Workbook together, even do the running program with him. When he is there, be sure to write him lots of letters

  3. My boyfriend wants to join the military. He is 16 now. We have a baby on the way, and wondering if he is allowed to take me with him after training like to live on base?

  4. SGT Volkin /

Well, he can’t join the military just yet, he is too young. However, when he is ready, there is on base housing you both can live at (if active duty) when the time is right.

    Good luck

Hi Sgt. Volkin. I’m 16 years old and am planning on enlisting in the Army in January, when I turn 17. I am still a Junior in high school but I’m wanting to choose the Split Option enlistment contract for the Reserves so I can have more time to go to college. I was wondering how my AFQT of 86 would affect my MOS choices. Also, what should I prepare for when I go to BCT next summer?

  6. SGT Volkin /

    HI Caleb
Your AFQT shouldn’t affect your MOS choice, it’s just a qualifying score. To prepare I would get The Ultimate Basic Training Guidebook

Thanks for your reply. I was told that my AFQT determined what jobs would be available to me upon enlistment, so I wanted firsthand knowledge. I appreciate your help.

I’ll try to be short, I am 34 years old, and I turn 35 in November. I recently learned that the age limit was changed to 35 awhile back but I was just unaware. I put off enlisting until my husband PCS’ed. Now we are at his new duty station and I would love nothing more then to join active duty. So my question is will I still have time to join, will I be able to get everything done in time to possiblly head to basic before my 35th birthday? I qualify on all other levels, as far as my weight, being active, I’m ready to take the ASVAB, and medically there is no reason I can not join. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

  9. The best thing to probably do here is to register with your recruiter, take your oath but don’t pick a basic training date until you are ready to leave.

  10. Strange question: I’m 41 and served just over 1 year of active duty (mainly for training – tech school) in the Air Guard, years ago. At the time, I was going through a divorce (tech school marriage) and the Air Force was offering early outs to whoever wanted them, so I asked to be relieved of my enlistment contract. I have always regretted having done so and with all that is going on in the world, today, I want nothing more than to get back in the service and serve my country. I now have a B.A. degree and have seen that some fields allow for commissions, even over age 40. I really want this badly, but don’t want to disappoint myself if it’s not possible. I also have 5 dependents (wife, 4 kids). I’m fully aware the odds are stacked against me. Just wondering if there’s any way possible for re-entry, for me. Thanks.

  11. That’s a tough one, you should place a call to a recruiter. Your prior service might still allow you to

  12. I am interested in joining the United States Marine Corps. I would like to become an field artillery cannoneer and I know what score I need to obtain on the asvab. Other than getting a good score, can you give me any advice to obtain my goal of becoming a field artillery cannoneer? Thanks.

I ordered your paperback books (just because I love having actual books instead of ebooks) and i was woundering how long it will take to get to my home. I’m really excited about joining the Navy and I can’t wait to go to boot camp and start serving my country. Though I understand there is still a lot about the navy I don’t understand. Thus the reason I order your books i just want to make sure that I’m home to get it just in case I need to sign for the package.

  14. I was disqualified for having a deviated septum, pre halux in relation to a sessamoid bone, and sessamoid bone in my foot. All issues have either been corrected with surgery or have actually improved. I have a Masters in Health Services Administration. I want to be an officer. Do you know if the Air Force, Navy, or Army would accept me? Thank you.

My husband will be going to basic soon he is Joining the USMC. I was wondering if they provide any type of housing on base while he is in basic training?

  16. Tiffany

I am 56 years old and would like to join the military, not for active duty, but for an non active position, maybe as an administrative assistant or court reporter. I would be open to travel. Where might I find out if such enrollment exist and who might I contact? Thank you.

You would want to ask someone under my recommended recruiters section

Can you provide a answer for the following I formerly served in the U.S. Army Reserve a very, very long time ago and I was honorably discharged.

The problem I am age 52 years old now so are all of my options exhausted as far as returning to the military too serve my country again?

  20. Nate,

If you have enough prior time in service (TIS) to be able to reach 20 years of military duty before your 60th birthday, we can probably enlist you as long as you meet all other enlistment requirements. Without knowing how much TIS you have, I can only give you vague guidance. Please email me with specifics at national_guard_recruiter@yahoo.com

Hi! I would like to find out more about the GI Bill in the Air Force Reserves? From what my recruiter told me is that when you get the Post9/11 GI Bill that you receive a stipend of $684 a month for 36 months and that can be used for anything as long as it goes to college or a vocational school. Is this true?

  22. Roberto /

First off I would like to express my thanks for not only serving our country, but also the amazing books that you have written that will prepare me for basic training.

Currently, I am on page 17 of your “The Ultimate Basic Training Guidebook” and it states “Go to UltimateBasicTraining.com/fitness and determine the minimum time you will need on the fitness test. Insert that time in Table 2)”

When I come to the website that you stated to view that minimum, it only has it for the push ups and sit ups. But when I click on the link it re directs me to Military.com. I just want to make sure that my minimum time is 17:30 for 2 mile run if I am 24 years old (which is 17:30 which I would write 1050 for seconds in Table 2).

Any help on this would be greatly apprecaited, thank you again in advance.

  23. SGT Volkin /

Hi Roberto, SGT Volkin here, thanks for your above comment. Your math is correct. I will have to put a link to the run times on that page
